Samuelson Sez – The Polls are Coming So, my question for you this week is – Are you Ready? Are you ready for all the phone calls, e-mails and regular mail you are going to get, asking you this question – “Who are you going to vote for on Tuesday, November 3rd, for President of the United States?” Frankly, I am surprised there are still polling companies in business, especially after four years ago, when they really missed calling the outcome of that election. But, here they are asking the same question, who are you going to vote for in the November election? When I am asked that question, I have one of two responses…’I charge $100.00 for sharing my expertise.’ or I simply hang up up the phone. I am not sharing my choice for President with a stranger on the phone or on the internet. I will only do that when I am in the voting booth alone because that is the only vote that counts, not the view of the polling company. But I will definitely vote because I am constantly hearing from the talking heads on media as well as the candidates, the same thing I heard 4, 8, 12 and 16 years ago ‘This is the most important election in our nation’s history.’ I think every Presidential election fits that definition. So far the only survey I have seen that I put a little faith in is a poll of U.S. farmers. About 1,200 of them across the country were surveyed by a farm publication and asked to name their choice for President. The response was 75% will vote for the incumbent, Donald Trump. Yet, I wonder if that is an honest answer and what will they do when they actually walk into the voting booth in November.
