Iowa farmer Ted Hamer describes the recent derecho storm

Well, we’re just south of Waterloo, Iowa, so I already stated that we are in the southwest corner of the northeast quadrant of Iowa. We farm corn and soybeans. Our soybeans are about 100% seed beans, split between Pioneer and Bayer. And then we do also raise a little bit of Pioneer seed corn. And we do have a fairly large custom spraying business, but that custom spraying business is just spraying fungicide, insecticide, and Defol on seed corn in this area.

The reason we connected is we followed each other on Twitter, and that’s where I so often get my podcasts and connections to good stories. You had a major storm in the United States, which was funny. If I tell people here in Canada that you had that storm, nobody knows anything about it. So first of all, tell me how big that storm was, and how it affected you and whoever else was around there. And then we’ll go from there.
